Welcome to An Old Man's Art — where bold imagery meets wearable storytelling.

Our Story

I’ve been painting since 2020 — hundreds of pieces created from Washington State to North Carolina, from the Pacific coast to the Florida beaches. For years, my artwork lived on canvas, paper, and wood. But once Mel and I hit the road full‑time in 2023, something changed.

Traveling opened up a new way of creating.

Everywhere we go, something sparks an idea: a lighthouse at sunrise, a biker roaring past us, a shrimp boat leaning in the tide, a pelican perched on a piling, a crooked old store with a story in its walls. Those moments become sketches, photos, and quick paint studies right there on the road.

But to put our art on clothing — and to keep creating while traveling — we needed a way to expand what we could produce.

That’s where digital art became part of our process.

Now, the journey inspires the artwork, and digital tools help us turn those ideas into finished designs. We still start with real paintings, real sketches, and real places — but digital art lets us:

  • refine details

  • add bold outlines or textures

  • create cartoon or surreal versions

  • prepare designs for printing

  • build entire collections from a single idea

It doesn’t replace the painting — it extends it.

Digital art lets us keep producing high‑quality designs from the RV, no matter where we are or what supplies we have. It means our art can travel as far as we do.

Every shirt, every print, every design still begins with something real we saw out there on the road. Digital art just helps us bring it to life in a way that works for clothing, posters, stickers, and everything else we’re building.

This is the next chapter of what we do: painted by hand, inspired by the journey, finished with digital art, and shared with the world.
